Customers comment on the ease of maintaining MIOX equipment, which is evident in two primary areas. First of all, the brine pump is variable speed, which allows it to speed up and slow down to maintain constant cell amperage over a wide range of conditions. This means that no manual calibration is required — a huge time savings for operators. Secondly, the small volume of the cell minimizes the acid required to remove calcium build-up. The reduced volume also generates less acid waste, meaning there is less to dispose of. Acid-washing can be done by water plant personnel with ordinary tools in a matter of minutes. Three-way valves simplify the process, so removal of the cell from the enclosure is not necessary.
