The DHS has funded further development of the MIOX on-site generation disinfection technology under an initiative to remove chlorine gas, a potential terrorist target.

Marine Corps Systems Command

MARCORSYSCOM has partnered with MIOX Corporation and Cascade Designs to develop an Individual Water Purification System (IWPS) that combines a hydration bag with disinfection and filtration. A $4 million Congressional appropriation in 2006 will outfit 1/3 of the Marine Corps with the current purification system.

Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)

SNL is performing additional research and development with MIOX Corporation on innovations to reverse osmosis membrane technology to double the throughput in the same size pressure vessel.

TACOM has partnered with LexCarb and MIOX Corporation in their “water from fuel” program, which uses the hydrogen present in fuel and the oxygen present in the air to create ½ gallon of water for every gallon of fuel burned. By using LexCarb’s carbon media and MIOX’s disinfection device, the water produced from the system will meet drinking water requirements. This “water from fuel” treatment system is planned for installation on military transport vehicles.
