The MIOX system generates a chlorine-based disinfectant on-site as needed, and is designed to handle the peak demand for daily operations. Reserve disinfectant for up to a 24-hour supply is stored in an oxidant solution tank and injected into the water to be treated.
Because the MIOX systems operate at a set amperage point, the solution is generated at a consistent concentration. Shelf life is not an issue since the systems are designed to utilize all disinfectant generated within a 24-hour period. Operators do not have to adjust dilution and mixing ratios since degradation is not an issue. Unlike bulk hypochlorite, there are no concerns over ongoing degeneration to chlorate.
