MIOX in the Beverage Industry

MIOX® offers the safest water in the world, providing advanced, cost-effective solutions to the beverage industry for all water treatment applications including plant source water treatment, surface or groundwater, process water treatment, wastewater treatment, cooling towers on the facility, clean in place (CIP) for process fill lines - including syrups and raw sugars - and bottle rinsing. Our team designs custom solutions to deliver safe, effective, and economically attractive alternatives to minimize or eliminate the use of expensive and hazardous delivered chemicals. Our equipment supports controls integration in to plant SCADA systems. By partnering with MIOX, our customers experience a bottom line savings and operational efficiencies, keeping beverage operations running flawlessly.

Benefits of MIOX in Beverage Processing:

  • Cost-effective, offering an attractive return on investment
  • Improves safety by eliminating hazardous chemicals
  • A green alternative, disinfectant is produced with only salt and water
  • Improves productivity in CIP applications
  • Improves functionality of the cooling towers
  • Reduces bromate formation
  • Reduces the need to clean filters and membranes

MIOX’s advanced mixed oxidant technology, used for over 15 years in 30 countries, is ideal for clean-in-place beverage processing, reducing costs by generating sanitizer on site, on demand, increasing efficiency and reducing valuable beverage production downtime. The mixed oxidant clean-in-place cleaning solution is an environmentally benign and single-component solution that replaces 4- and 5-step clean in place CIP processes with a rapid, non-thermal, 3-step clean in place CIP process consisting of rinse, treatment, and final rinse. MIOX’s non-thermal technology reduces energy consumption and the rapid cleaning cycle significantly improves beverage facility production rates.

Since MIOX mixed oxidants are highly effective at eliminating biofilm, bacterial contamination is reduced or eliminated and disinfectant requirements are reduced; a more durable disinfectant residual safely prevents recontamination. With less organics in beverage distribution piping, fewer disinfection by-products are formed and microbiologically-induced corrosion (MIC) is reduced. Compatibility of the solution with existing materials of construction (304 and 316 stainless steel, etc) are excellent and below industry standards for corrosion.

Produced on-site, on demand, the mixed oxidant solution is an inherently safer beverage clean in place CIP disinfectant, using only salt, water, and power to generate disinfectant. Without hazardous chemicals transported, generated or stored, MIOX offers superior safety for beverage plant personnel and the community.
